As British Airways business class passengers departing from Terminal 5, my partner and I had access to the Galleries lounge. It took about 8 minutes to walk to the lounge after passing security, and with limited time before boarding, I quickly tried to check out the entire lounge and what it has to offer.
The Lounge
After going up a few escalators, we arrived at the passport control looking entrance where our boarding passes were checked, and we were directed into the lounge.
The Galleries Lounge is modern and elegant with plenty of comfortable seating areas for lounging, eating, or working.
BA gets the basics right in offering a wide range of seating options, a good food and drink selection, and shower suites which I unfortunately didn’t have time to check out. During my visit around 8:00PM, the lounge was less than half full, however I can imagine the lounge being less pleasant during peak travel times and finding seats may become difficult.
Food and Drink
The main buffet is located in the center of the lounge which features several hot and cold dishes, cheese, soups, salads, fruit and a range of drinks.
I sampled a few of the dishes and thought the quality was pretty good by European lounge standards.
The smaller buffet areas around the lounge offered a nice drink selection as well as some snacks.
Bottom Line
The British Airways Galleries Lounge is a nice place to relax before your flight. They offer all the basic lounge amenities you’d expect in a modern and elegant space. None of the individual lounge components are so impressive, but altogether this is a nice lounge which I would be happy to use again.
For a next level lounge experience at Heathrow Terminal 5, BA first class passengers can access the Concorde Room which really impressed me. See the full review here.
