Hilton Prague Old Town

Prague features two Hilton properties in the city center, the Hilton Prague and Hilton Prague Old Town.  Having stayed at both, I much prefer the Old Town location with a more central location and newly renovated rooms.

Location

The Hilton is located just inside Prague’s beautiful old town, and within walking distance of most of the city’s main points of interest. Also close by are the city’s main rail and bus stations, metro and tram lines. This location is tough to beat!

Check In

We arrived at the hotel around 9:00 AM and were invited to check in immediately.  I was happy to be getting the room key so early, however I wasn’t offered an upgrade because the hotel was full.  Understandable, however I am so accustomed to suite upgrades now that I get very disappointed when I don’t get one.

The Room

As requested, we were given a standard room with two twin beds on the executive floor.  Despite being on the smaller side, the room was modern and clean, and had all the features that should be expected including a closet, desk, TV, and a lounge chair.

The bathroom was a good size, clean and simple with a toilet, sink, and combination shower and bath tub.

The desk was a bit small to work comfortably, but it did the job. It’s accompanied by a plush leather chair, reading lamp, and plenty of power outlets.

Across from the desk was a small, chic lounge chair, lamp, and a small round table.  The Hilton left us a nice welcome gift with a card, water bottles, and chocolates.

The Lounge

It was very convenient to have the executive lounge on our floor as we were able to easily pop in for a drink or snack.  The lounge serves breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner, as well as light snacks and drinks throughout the day.  While not the nicest executive lounge I’ve visited, it had plenty of seating and was a nice place to relax.

Breakfast at the lounge was a small affair compared to the main restaurant.  The buffet consisted of breads, fruit, juices, cheese, meats, and a few hot dishes.  I chose to have breakfast in the main restaurant which offered a wider selection.

The afternoon tea options were limited and consisted of some finger sandwiches, sweets, and of course drinks including tea.

I didn’t see what the lounge offered for dinner, though I can’t imagine it was anything too exciting.

Prague is a city with some delicious food at relatively low prices, so I wasn’t too concerned about the quality of food offered in the lounge.  It was a nice place for a quick snack or drink, though not where I would want to have a full meal.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at the hotel’s main restaurant on the ground floor.  I really liked the design compared to the executive lounge, despite having no natural light.

The buffet options were standard for a European hotel, with a range of cereals, pastries, fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, cheese, hot dishes, and some local Czech foods.  Quality was good overall, but I would get tired of this breakfast after a few days as selection was limited.

Bottom Line

The Hilton Prague Old Town is a nice renovated hotel with central location.  While the room was fine given the little time we actually spent in it, it was a bit tight and I would certainly prefer a larger room.  Otherwise I was pleased with my stay and would likely stay here again next time I visit Prague given my loyalty to the Hilton brand.
