Location
The Lufthansa Lounge is located at JFK’s Terminal 1, where all Lufthansa and Austrian flights (as well as some other Star Alliance flights) depart from. The lounge was pretty easy to find, just to the left after security you should be able to see the entrance.

How to Access
I was flying premium economy with Austrian to Vienna, and while premium economy passengers aren’t given complementary lounge access, I was able to access the lounge due to my Aegean Airlines Gold Status. Only those with Lufthansa Senator status or Star Alliance Gold Status may use the lounge when flying any Star Alliance carrier in any class. No Priority Pass holders or elite members of other airlines can access this lounge.
The Lounge
The Senator Lounge is located on the second floor of the greater Lufthansa lounge area with business on the ground floor and first class on the third floor. While the business class lounge was extremely busy, the Senator Lounge only had a handful of people and I was able to sit and enjoy some food in peace. The seating options were pretty standard consisting of rows of plush lounge chairs as well as dining table to eat or work at.
I was happy sitting at the table to get some work done while enjoying the tarmac view, beer in hand.
Food and Amenities
The first thing that stood out to me when I entered the lounge was a full bar with a nice variety of wines, beer on tap and other spirits.
Across from the bar was the food buffet with plenty of hot and cold options for dinner including beef, rice, roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables, a salad bar, as well as several desserts. To my surprise, the quality and taste of the food was quite good and I enjoyed a nice dinner before my flight to Vienna.
The lounge does have shower facilities as well, though I didn’t have time to use them.
Bottom Line
I was quite impressed by the Lufthansa Senator Lounge at JFK. The space was comfortable and quiet and the food and drink options were very good. I would gladly return for an early dinner and some relaxing before my next flight.
