ZACHARY DAVIDSON

Royal Jordanian A320 Business Class, Amman to Tel Aviv

Flight Number RJ 342

Departing from Amman at 7:00 AM

Seat 1A

Throughout my years of frequent traveling, I’ve taken this flight countless times en route to other Middle Eastern and Far East countries. The flight between Tel Aviv and Amman is one of only two regularly scheduled nonstop flights between Israel and its Arab neighbors (the other being Tel Aviv to Cairo, Egypt operated by Air Sinai).

This flight tends to be very expensive with round trip fares often around $700 for economy class or $1000 for business class on this sub 30-minute flight.

Boarding

You might imagine security would be tight for a flight like this, however security is no different for the Tel Aviv flight than any other flight departing from Amman. Boarding was quick and we were heading towards the runway shortly after the doors were closed.

Cabin and Seat

The business class cabin on this aircraft is pretty standard for this aircraft with 16 total seats laid out over 4 rows in a 2 – 2 configuration.

Each pair of seats are identically designed and fairly comfortable with a good amount of legroom and seat adjustment options. Each seat has an individual reading light, fold out tray table and IFE screen, front pocket for storage, and electronic seat controls under the armrest. A small table can be pulled out from the center console between each seat pair and is used mainly to hold drinks.

Food and Drink

Being such a short flight at around 20 minutes from takeoff to touchdown, no meals or beverage service are offered on this flight. Royal Jordanian generally offers water, juice or Arabic coffee before departure, though nothing once in the air.

Views

The highlight of this flight is without a doubt the incredible views you get while flying over the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, the Judean desert, and finally Tel Aviv before coming in for landing. When I take the daytime flight, my face is glued to the window enjoying the incredible views below!

Bottom Line

Though this certainly is not the usual business class experience, Royal Jordanian’s service between Amman and Tel Aviv is one of the most interesting commercial flights around the world.  Amman is a great connecting point for people traveling between Israel and the East, and I expect to take this flight many more times once it resumes.
