Beijing was the last stop on a two week trip through Asia with my grandmother. I wanted to stay somewhere nice and the Conrad stood out as one of the best options in the city. Conrad hotels in Asia never disappointed me in the past, so I figured it was a safe bet to book it.
Location
The Conrad is located on the 3rd ring road in the eastern part of Beijing. The hotel is located within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and offices, as well as the Hujialou metro station. We easily managed to travel throughout Beijing from our hotel by metro or taxi.
Check In
We arrived at the hotel around noon after a long morning visiting the Great Wall of China.
I was invited to check in immediately although I wasn’t offered a suite upgrade despite several being available. A very rare occurrence in my experience as a diamond member staying at many Hilton properties, so I didn’t give up.
I decided to go up to the executive lounge and inquire about the potential upgrade. Thankfully the guy working at the executive lounge front desk was kind and gave us the key to a beautiful suite.
The Room
We were given room 2310, an executive suite on the 23rd floor.
The door opened to a small entrance where to the left you’ll enter a large closet area leading to the master bathroom. To the right was a small walkway leading to the living room.
In between both rooms is a large and stylish guest bathroom with doors leading to both the living room and closet area.
The living room was large and elegant with massive floor to ceiling windows looking out towards some of the most famous buildings in Beijing.
A stylish curved couch followed the curvature of the window right behind it, accompanied by a small round coffee table.
At the other side of the room is a large desk, TV, and some storage space.
I liked the light colors used as it highlighted the amazing city view just outside.
I asked for a rollaway bed for myself to be placed in the living room so my grandmother could enjoy the master bedroom to herself. The bed, though small, was actually quite comfortable and I was happy to fall asleep to that amazing view!
Through a sliding door you’ll find the master bedroom. The bedroom was adequately sized with a large double bed, TV, and a comfortable daybed beside the window which fit perfectly and was so enjoyable to lounge on.
The bedroom has some convenient bedside controls for the lights and curtains.
Through another set of sliding doors, you’ll find the master bathroom. This was a large and elegant bathroom with a bathtub just beside the window, double sinks, and a shower with dual shower heads.
This beat any rain shower head I’ve used before, what a delight to shower here!
Through another sliding door is an open closet area with space to put suitcases as well.
Breakfast
The Conrad serves breakfast each morning in its beautifully designed lobby restaurant.
Breakfast was phenomenal with a massive selection of high quality Chinese and Western options, many of which were changed each day during our stay which is rare, even for a five star hotel.
Service, quality and quantity of the food as well as the amazing décor of the restaurant makes this one of my favorite hotel breakfasts ever. My only disappointment from breakfast was that the coffee was made by a machine rather than by a barista. I do find there is a big difference in terms of taste and a shame the Conrad didn’t find it important in this otherwise incredible hotel breakfast.
The executive lounge offers breakfast as well, though we enjoyed the restaurant so much that we didn’t bother checking out the lounge for breakfast.
The Lounge
The executive lounge is located on the hotel’s top floor and is open to Hilton elite members as well as those who purchased access. The lounge is massive and included several seating areas as well as great views of the city, similar to the view from my suite.
The lounge serves breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening canapes, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. I visited the lounge a couple times for both afternoon tea as well as the evening cocktails and canapes and was impressed by the selection, quality of food, and the service.
Bottom Line
The Conrad Beijing was easily one of my most impressive city hotel stays. Everything in the hotel is beautifully designed from the rooms to the restaurants to the executive lounge. Service throughout the hotel was five star, breakfast was exquisite, and the location was perfect. I will likely book the Conrad on my next trip to Beijing to experience more of what the hotel has to offer!
