ZACHARY DAVIDSON

Swiss Business Class Lounge (Non Schengen), Zurich

Swiss operates their flagship business class lounge out of the E concourse at Zurich airport. This lounge is modern and comfortable with some excellent features, making it one of my favorite lounges in Europe.

How to Access

The Swiss business class lounge is accessible to Swiss and Star Alliance business class passengers departing from the E concourse. Star Alliance Gold members who aren’t flying in business class are instead invited to use the adjacent Senator lounge which offers similar amenities. Swiss business class passengers departing from other concourses are invited to use the lounges in their respective concourse.

The Lounge

Both the Swiss business class lounge is located one level above the main concourse. The lounge is broken up into several areas including lounge seating, work area, dining area, buffet, and an outdoor terrace.

The lounge seating mainly consists of rows of black leather armchairs with individual lamps and charging ports at each seat. Towards the back of the lounge were a few large leather couches for informal seating.

Just beside the lounge seating was the main dining area and buffet. The lounge offers a wide drink selection as well as a self service food buffet and a live cooking station. I assume the live cooking station options rotate by day, however I wasn’t impressed with bow-tie pasta with tomato sauce as the main dish.

My favorite part of this lounge is the long outdoor terrace with views of the busy tarmac and even out to the Swiss countryside landscape on a clear day. While there is a section of the terrace designated only for the Swiss business class lounge guests, all other lounges in the E concourse have access to the terrace as well.

Amenities

Lounge guests have access to use one of several shower suites located opposite the reception desk. Access to the shower suites is on a first come first served basis, however I had no issue waiting even during peak time in the lounge. The shower suites where large and clean, with high quality amenities as well as a toilet and sink.

Bottom Line

While I don’t think the Swiss lounge is worth arriving early or planning a long layover to enjoy, it’s a high quality lounge with a nice outdoor terrace, spacious shower suites, and a nice food and beverage selection.  This is without a doubt one of Europe’s best business class lounges and a comfortable space to pass the time before your flight.
