Swiss operates their less famous Schengen business class lounge out of the A concourse at Zurich airport. To my surprise, this was one of the better lounges I’ve visited with some unique features.
How to Access
The Swiss business class lounge is accessible to Swiss and Star Alliance business class passengers departing from the A concourse. Star Alliance Gold members who aren’t flying in business class are instead invited to use the adjacent Senator lounge which offers similar amenities. Swiss business class passengers departing from other concourses are invited to use the lounges in their respective concourse.
The Lounge
The lounge is located away from the passenger gates in the concourse’s main shopping area. I loved the lounge design which gives off a warm ski lodge feeling with a mix of dark and wooden notes and a curved ceiling.
At the center of the lounge is the main dining area with seating for about 60 people.
Further back, you’ll find more traditional lounge seating with black leather armchairs and a long curved black leather couch. An additional quiet lounge area is located one floor above.
One unique feature of this lounge is the semi private “alps room” with seating for about 15 people around a table with a topographical map of Switzerland and HD images of the alps on the wall.
The one drawback of the lounge’s design is the lack of windows with a view. Otherwise, I found the design to be aesthetically pleasing.
Food and Drinks
When I visited the lounge in the morning, there was an impressive breakfast spread available with a large beverage selection, self serve hot and cold buffet, and a live cooking station. A selection of Movenpick ice cream cups are available throughout the day as well.
The coffee machines in this lounge had the largest drink selection I’ve ever seen!
The quality and range of food options were good, and I’ve only heard good things about the food offerings during lunch and dinner times.
Amenities
Lounge guests have access to use one of several shower suites. I didn’t have the time to check them out, but if they are similar to the ones in the Non Schengen lounge, I’d be happy to use them.

Bottom Line
The Swiss Schengen business class lounge is a surprisingly high quality lounge, offering a cozy atmosphere, comfortable seating, and tasty food. I didn’t get to fully experience the lounge with just a quick peek before by flight, though I’d happily plan a longer layover to fully experience all the lounge has to offer.
